Americans were freed from AT & T last few days

The news that Apple and ending the exclusive relationship with AT & T will begin selling 4 iPhone on the Verizon network in the United States is not a surprise, but the excitement and clear nonetheless.

"Freedom" bellowed John Stewart in "The Daily Show," in part that the people described the relationship with AT & T as that of slaves to their masters, and subjects to their own tyrants.

Due to dissatisfaction with AT & T, it is easy to look at other parts of the world, and wonder why did not happen sooner. After all, the iPhone is available on multiple carriers in many European markets. France and even the laws that would make AT & T's exclusive deal with Apple is legitimate. Almost half of mobile phone customers in the largest European countries do not have contracts with wireless carriers, and can switch phones from one network to another with ease.

System of the continent was a loss and partly because Europe settled on the level of technology and one for wireless carriers in 20 years. There are countries that want to ensure that the phones of its citizens will also traveled across the continent. "I call it a competition culture," said Alex Hales, a professor in the Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University, explaining why not set one standard in the United States. This trade-off benefits for consumers, as well. By agreeing to link themselves to AT & T for two years, and iPhone owners paid only about one third of their phones; AT & T put up the rest. Europeans may be able to leave minute carriers believe that another company can do what is best, but paid in advance and most importantly for that added choice.

This does not necessarily make them happier than Americans raging against AT & T in November asked ComScore, a research firm, marketing, and mobile phone users to rank their satisfaction with how the carriers, on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being most satisfied. Gave only 11% of Americans are carriers of five or less. On the contrary, came in 16 percent of European carriers with five or less.

Since the terrifying events of September 11, 2001, there had been pressure on cell phone providers to integrate some kind of GPS tracking system so that a suspicious cell phone call could be traced to the location of the caller. At the end of 2005 all cell phone service providers were mandated to update their equipment so that they would have the capabilities to trace any cell phone calls within 100 meters of the location where the phone was being used. You must have the cell phone subscriber's permission before you can enable a GPS device. In matters of the person's personal safety, however, a judge can waive the need for this permission, such as in the case of an elderly person who is known to "wander" off and become lost and disoriented. A GPS tracking system could be the difference between life and death and would probably be allowed in this situation. This law is also not in effect when you are tracking your children, as long as the cell phone is in your name. For children over eighteen years of age, however, it is probably is not a good idea.

A mobile phone can better be described as a cordless, electronic device used to communicate with friends and family over a cellular network. Depending on your location, you can use this cell phone whether you are standing still or on the move; as long as you have sufficient airtime and signal. You can make and receive phone calls by connecting to a mobile network operator.

There are hundreds, maybe thousands of different cell phone brands available today. In South Africa, the most common ones would be Nokia, Sony Ericson, Samsung, Motorolla and LG. There are also many different types of cell phones available, and the variety is still fast growing: every single one trying to be better than the previous one. They evolved from electronic devices with green or blue background lights only able to SMS, call and play a certain number of games, to being almost like mini-computers. Today's models are able to send SMS, send and receive E-mail, access the internet, allow the user to play a number of advanced games, take pictures and videos with a built in camera, create music libraries and play MP3's, listen to any FM Radio station, access GPS maps and locations and even allows the user to add custom applications, like Facebook, Twitter or Skype. Every new model cell phone that is introduced to the public has more and more different applications and services and every one of them is trying to win the approval from consumers.

The first mobile phone weighed approximately 2kg! Imagine walking around with that every day! In 1990, approximately 12.4 million people all over the world had a cell phone. In 2009, another study showed that 12.4 billion people all around the world now had cell phones. That is 370 times the 1990 number!

The mobile phone was an amazing invention and a successful step into the future, but not everything about it is positive. For instance, people have been known to text and drive, often making accidents and causing the deaths of other people. We just do not know when to put it down because we are so focused on our businesses or social lives that we ignore the fact that we are putting ourselves and others in danger. It is also impacting the lives of children all over the world greatly. Children now get cell phones at the tender age of 8 or 9 years of age. Yes, a cell phone may be useful in an emergency, but it can also impact their academic careers in a negative way, and some parents fail to see this. There have also been concerns around the impact cell phones have on humans as well as animals' health. So far, nothing has been proven, but some still believe that it holds unnoticeable dangers to our health.

The mobile phone has surely made our lives a bit easier, but there are some concerns that need to be addressed around their existence.

Question by Taylor: How do I get my Motorolla phone to work with my computer.?
I recently got a Motorlla V197 and I know I can hook it up to the computer and download pictures and sounds to my phone from my hard drive or the internet. Somethings wrong though, the computer recongnizes it but it won't work. Do I need to download something or puchase software? Im not that computer savy so i need complete and descriptive answers. Motorolla Phone tools works... but it wont let me update from a list and my phone (RIZR) isn't listed?

Do i need a driver or something? or a patch please help

You need a new version of the drivers you can get it from here http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/Handset_USB_Driver/

You have to register to access them.

"Unplug the phone, run the installation (unzip the file, then right click on it, and select Install), then restart Mobile Phone Tools. Vista will nag you about 10 times for each unsigned driver it is installing, but just be patient. You will eventually get through the install routine. Then, plug your phone in, and it will be discovered and the correct drivers will be installed. Good luck!"
