EEEEEEEK! I just got a new cell phone from china... GSM QUAD BAND i am unable to recieve mms.?

i am about ready to send it back! which is a bummer because i really like the phone. is there some fine tuning to these phones? can anyone help before i lose my mind? and also i dont know if i am able to use my own ringtones.
